Dr. Jeffrey Kunkes moved to
Atlanta after finishing his ENT training in New York City at the
Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has been in practice in
Riverdale since 1981. His practice treats adult and pediatric
patients and encompasses all branches of otolaryngology
including head and neck surgery, ear disorders, nasal and sinus
problems, and throat infections.
Dr. Jeff has served as president
of both the city and state ENT societies and was appointed by
the Governor to serve on the Composite Board of Speech Pathology
and Audiology. He was elected to represent Georgia on the
National Board of Governors of the American Academy of
Otolaryngology.
Dr. Kunkes has continued his training while in practice becoming
a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngologic Allergy and
the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He has interests in all
aspects of ENT and treats patients from newborns to seniors. After
30 years in the Clayton/Henry/Fayette County area, sometimes
being the first ENT in these counties, In 2008, Dr. Kunkes set
up his current practice in Riverdale concentrating on giving
more personal, attentive care. Patients can have allergy testing
and treatment and be tested for sleep apnea in Riverdale.
Dr. Kunkes has
also decided to utilize only Southern Regional and its
affiliated Spivey Station Surgery Center so that patients will
benefit from a familiarity and a shared team approach with
anesthesia and the operating room personnel. He handpicked a
staff of women who specialize in taking care of patients and
being familiar with the most recent advances in ear, nose, and
throat medicine. They are all from the local community and
interact with patients during the course of their daily
activities.
You may have
seen Dr. Kunkes on television. Southern Regional Hospital used
him to discuss problems breathing through the nose and
corrective septoplasty. This has been shown several times on
local television. Also Dr. Kunkes is a spokesperson for Javelin
Tech and works in training its students. He has appeared on
several commercials for Javelin.
He is proud to be treating the children of patients on which he
operated over 20 years ago, giving him a strong sense of
attachment and growth in the community.
